We take you behind the scenes to King Princess’ dressing room to see how she prepares for a show!
It’s a cool evening in March and we arrive at the venue of the night: The Fonda in Los Angeles. We pass a line that wraps around the entire block, a group of fans waiting eagerly for a show they’ve been looking forward to for weeks: King Princess.
We’re brought backstage through the hectic atmosphere of those preparing for showtime and into the dressing room of none other than King Princess herself. She greets us immediately, a wide smile across her face and she tells us to sit down, get comfortable.
“It’s one of my favorite things before the show, how busy everything is,” she says, “It’s this really distinct energy that never fails to get me excited for a show.” The room is seemingly a good escape from the bustle of backstage, as we lounge on the couch with classic rock playing softly in the background. “That’s my pump up music,” she laughs, “It may seem a little odd, but that’s what I grew up with, so it just feels kinda right.”
Her makeup artist urges her to get into the chair to get ready and she does, but not willing to sacrifice her conversation with us. “I’m not huge on wearing makeup on stage, but some glitter could never really hurt to spice it up,” she chuckles.
She then starts to get into her stage clothes: bedazzled jeans with a matching jacket over a white tank top. “The jacket doesn’t make it very far through the show,” she says, “It gets way too hot up there for so many layers, and I like to dance, so I want to be as free as possible!”
With everything set and ready to go, we say our goodbyes as she takes the stage. As usual, her concert is nothing less than magic.
